Truly, this is a loss of words moment for me when I found out. “Los…..Benoit and his family were found dead in their home,” read the text on my cell phone. An unbelievable fact, but the World Wrestling Entertainment superstar, Chris “The Crippler” Benoit has passed away, along with his wife and son. As a fan of wrestling and a site admin of LosEvolution, I extend my solemn, upmost, respect to Chris and his family. To hear something tragic happen to anyone is bad, but to Benoit makes it worse. 40 years young, was this great superstar.
The sport of wrestling is scripted, true, but these people live lives performing this scripted form of entertainment. As a fan, I have spent the last 10+ years following the sport, and in these years I have watched a 5 foot 11, 234lb man do amazing things in the ring. From his years in Japan as the Pegasus Kid, to a member of the Four Horsemen, to a great WWE Superstar, Benoit was a multi-time United States Champion, former World Heavyweight Champion, WCW Champion, and a 4-time Intercontinental Champion, Chris Benoit accomplished so much in the ring.
Tonight’s WWE Monday Night RAW is a 3-hour tribute to Chris Benoit.
I have enjoyed watching Benoit perform his craft. He was one of the best and in his words “the best damn technical wrestler today.” As a fan, I only know what I read on the Internet and what I see on television. What I have seen is a man that really loved wrestling and his family. It has been an honor watching him, and I bid him and his family farewell. Rest in Peace.
