L.E. World 10/2/13 – Government Shutdown – Congress Still Draws A Paycheck?!

According to the 27th amendment, Congress can still get a paycheck during a shutdown.

No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.

So, Congress screw thousands out of money and keeps getting paid?! CNN has the full article here.

Thoughts

Congress should take the biggest bite, versus the Americans who had nothing to do with the shutdown. As usual, we, as people, pay for the mistakes and miscalculations of a few. Eventually the shutdown itself will cause the same amount of damage to the economy that the Republicans complained that the Affordable Care Act (that’s what it is, and I wish that the term Obamacare would be struck from every record, website, etc) would cause.

A side note is that gas prices have the possibility to drop the lowest that they have been in a long time.

Hopefully the government will not continue to fail us much longer.
